Home Customers 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer – Classic Parts

Year: 1972
Make: Chevrolet
Model: K5 Blazer
Engine: 454 Big Block
Wheels: Torque Thrust 15 x 8

Watching my older brother, Steve Kofron maintain and restore got me interested in Classic Trucks.

My 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer started out as a 4-wheel drive 4×4 and then I converted it to 2-wheel drive, welded the side marker lights shut and put a ’67 nose on it. I took the small block out and put a 454 big block with a turbo 400 in it – and added a cowl induction hood.  I dropped the truck 12″ when I modified it to 2-wheel drive.  I cut 2 coils out of the front springs to lower the front and I flipped the rear end and ‘C’ notched the frame with 2″ blocks to lower the rear.  As the top is removable – my Blazer is currently driven as a convertible.

I put new torque thrust wheels and tires on it, had the interior redone Joel Mattix of Boss Interior to match the bronze pearl paint job by Steve Kofron of Kofron Auto Restoration. Total restoration took about three years to complete.

My blazer has won 2nd second place in the ‘1960 to Present’ Pickup Modified Category at the 2005 Scenic City Car show in Iowa Falls, Iowa and I’ve had photos of it published in the Chrome 2012 Calendar put out by ANPAC.  I’ve also had it entered at the ‘GoodGuys’ Heartland Nationals’ Car Show in Des Moines each of the last six years.

The restoration was done 15 years ago and now it’s on to my next project: 1964 Chevy C10 Truck, see below.

My current project, restoring a 1964 Chevy C10 truck has had many of it’s part purchased from Classic Parts. See below:

“Classic Parts were very helpful in my ordering process – answered all my questions – and everything arrived in great condition!  Will definitely be buying parts from Classic Parts in the future.”
