Home How to How to remove a lock cylinder from ignition switches

In this post we will show how to remove a lock cylinder from an ignition switch. Our customers have made multiple requests to our technical representatives so we decided to create a video which sheds some light on the subject.

First we insert the lock cylinder into the ignition switch to show how to remove it. Once it’s inserted, we turned the key counter clockwise into the accessory mode. Once the holes are line up, use a paper clip to depress the pin. With the pin depressed, twist the key counter clockwise and remove the cylinder from the ignition switch.

Important:

  • You will need to search our store for the ignition switch and lock cylinder for the year of your vehicle.
  • A paper clip is a useful tool to push the pin to the required position on the unlock cylinder.
