Cameron — the owner of a newly restored, frame-off ’67 C10 — isn’t afraid to drive it with 1000 miles already on it.
Cameron took his freshly rebuilt truck to the Classic Parts of America C10 Nationals at the Texas Motor Speedway last month. Cameron said his C10 was originally a six-cylinder, three-speed, step-side truck. The truck did not stay that way though.
“We’ve converted it to a fleetside big block 496 stroker with a 700 R transmission and mini tubbed rear end,” said Cameron.
Cameron said he enjoyed much of the restoration process.
“I mean anywhere from tearing it down, getting it to two bare frame rails, working on the chassis getting that all built back, piecing stuff together, research, and seeing how things go together,” Cameron said. “Making it exactly the way I wanted it and not how other people would choose to do something.”
For someone wanting to start a restoration, Cameron recommends asking questions, doing research, and jumping on forums.
“There’s just a wealth of knowledge out there,” he said. “Just ask questions and don’t be afraid to make a mistake. Dig into it and do it yourself.”
Cameron’s learned a lot on the way, he said. Now that he has accumulated some knowledge himself, he’s found a teaching role in the same places where he was once a student.
With his ‘67 finished, Cameron is on to a ‘79 K10 Squarebody which was purchased new in ‘78.
Cameron purchased the ‘67 in 2012 and finished the restoration a couple of years ago. He’s glad to have it on the road.

i really like older cars and trucks, whatever they may be, and by the looks of it this guy has put a lot of time and elbow grease into this truck. it is a well built truck. this is where i have to disagree about the truck being “restored” is where he said his “C10 was originally a six cylinder, three speed, step side truck.” after putting the big engine (which most do), 700R4 and bigger tires, to me, i don’t call that “restored.” i’m sorry, i’m not trying to ruffle any feathers, this truck has had a lot of time and effort into it and is well built but i feel it is more of a hot rod than restored. my definition of “restored” is putting something back the way it was. again, i’m sorry if i upset anyone, feel free to disagree. thanks
It’s really a nice job. You did a great job on it. Did you drive it to Texas Speedway? We hav been going to Springfield race track on Saturday night and watching Lonnie race the little cars. Gene really likes to go. You ought to go sometime there is really a lot of them racing. He races the gray and white one and the yellow one is the owner of Economy Tire He owns both of them and is trying to sell the gray one. It is a lot of fun to watch them
