Rob’s good ‘ole hauler turned into an outstanding show truck.
Rob brought his C10 to the C10 Nationals this year in Nashville, Tennessee. At the show, he won runner-up for 1967-72 truck of the year.
“This is a good ‘ole truck here. I drove it for 10 years,” Rob said. “It was just flat black and lowered. Heck, I hauled tractors and everything.”
Rob is no stranger to restoring vehicles: “I’m co-owner of Autokraft Auto Body in Angola, Indiana. I’ve been around this stuff all my life.”
The C10 had a complete frame-off restoration. The truck is lowered and has a 355 with a supercharger. It also has many parts from Classic Parts of America.
When asked about his favorite part of the restoration, Rob said he liked picking the color.
“Once I figured the color out, started to paint parts, then it started to come together,” Rob said. “That was the fun part. All the grease and the sweat, getting it to this point. Putting it together is definitely fun and coming to shows like this.”
The C10 Nationals in Nashville Tennesee amassed over a thousand trucks. The drivers were able to participate in events such as autocross, drag racing, and a dyno challenge. While Rob enjoyed the show, he hopes to see younger generations taking part in such shows and keeping these ole’ trucks on the road.
“I’m kind of seeing these days, it doesn’t seem like the younger kids are getting into it,” Rob said. “I wish they would and just you know, if they see something they like, get a cool project. There are some old guys out there that’ll help you. You know, just get after it, get greasy, and dirty.”
Very good co.
