Jesse’s 1978 squarebody is a no expenses spared truck for the track.
Classic Parts of America spoke to Jesse at the Texas C10 Nationals this year. Jesse was at the event to participate in the autocross.
Jesse said his C10 started out as pretty much a stock truck, but one thing led to another once he got into autorossing.
“Now it’s on a No Limit Engineering chassis, independent rear suspension, a Winters quick change, 446 cubic inch LS motor, sequential six-speed transmission that’s paddle-shifted, and all other kinds of high tech fancy things to make us competitive when auto crossing.”
Jesse said he got into autocrossing after going to a show with an autocrossing event.
“Going into the paddock where they were autocrossing, immediately I was like, ‘These are my people and this is what I want to do.’”
To get into autocross, Jesse recommends getting a good set of tires and brakes. Also, experience is the best teacher.
“You’ll come into challenges driving and talking to other people within the industry and they’ll tell you how they’ve overcome obstacles and what parts to buy. I think that’s probably the most important thing; just don’t spend all the money right away. Try to drive, come into an obstacle and then go from there.”
