One September weekend in 2013, Pierce, Nebraska, hosted an auction that brought in 10,000 hopeful buyers looking to get a “new” vintage Chevy.

Ray Lambrecht and his wife, Mildred, decided to auction off the 500 Chevy cars and trucks they had accumulated over the 50 years of owning their auto dealership. Most of these vehicles have never had a registered owner, with many having odometers that read less than twenty miles.

One was a ‘72 C10 Cheyenne purchased by Bob L, who was ready for a new project.

“I’ve seen it on the national news and went back and found the auction company and started doing the preview,” Bob said. “I actually didn’t go to the sale I bid online and had it shipped out. I knew what I was getting into, I knew it was going to be rusty and I knew it was going to need a lot.”

  1. The Lambrecht Auction reminded me of Woodstock…three days of people and fun! I bought two trucks that I shipped to Rhode Island. Both trucks have been restored. Bought them both for under $5,000. People tell me that they are now worth $50,000
The urban legend, supposedly, makes them more valuable. I have no intention of selling them and the memories of that auction will be with me forever!!!
